433 Eros

A model of asteroid 433 Eros.

An S-type near earth asteroid, it was the first near earth asteroid discovered and currently the second largest NEA known, about 34.4×11.2×11.2 km in size.

It was visited by the NEAR shoemaker spacecraft twice in 1998 and 2000 which then terminated its mission in 2001 by landing on it. (despite not being designed to do so!)
